Anti Rattle Clips Installation
This guy had pictures and how to install them. I got them installed and the rattle stopped, YAY! Now I can hear the anti rattle clips scraping on the outside edge (not the braking surface) of the rotor.

Jun 27, 2012 During the install I ran into a little problem with the Anti-Rattle Clips. For the life of me I couldn't figure out how they were installed, so naturally I hopped on to the forum to find the solution to my problem. No matter where I looked I couldn't seem to find a straight answer. What I did find was a somewhat helpful installation diagram. The only bummer was in the beginning when I thought it was just the anti-rattle clip I bought a new brake hardware kit for $18, it included the metal/rubber studs to hold on the calipers and the anti rattle clips and the washers for the rubber brake hose that connects to the caliper.

This can be an actually easy work to perform. I though thát I would perform a little write up on it. This was an annoying sound. Every time I hit a lump I would right here a clank. Right here is definitely the sound before the fix. So right here it will go. This is usually all the you need.
The lift is not essential but I used it to spin the c-cIip around so l could take it off easier. I used the brake pedal quite but I'm not sure its needed. The kit comes with the pins, spring clips and c-clips. Very first off loosen the lug nut products and after that you know the drill down. Jack port the vehicle up and help it with some jack stalls.
It seems that no one places the rubber parts back again in the ánti-rattle clips any longer. They are not really bonded to the older clips and can end up being re-used. They are usually costly and tough for your parts guy to find at the Ford store. You perform NOT desire to throw them aside. As significantly as that will go, anything planting season metal like these ánti-rattle clips simply lose primary pressure over period (and over repeated warmth/cool cycles), but perform not completely deform.
Simply maintain your outdated black primary clips, bend them out (ór re-tension thém, your preference) and re-install. The Cobra pads require a lot of stress on those cIips when re-instaIling, to avoid rattling. Been right now there, done that, obtained the keychain ánd thé t-shirt.several, many yrs back. No even more rattle from front end brake pedal calipers My 04 Cobra Convertible rattled over bumps uneven areas.
The signs and symptoms seemed like what several of you defined. A quite '03/04 Cobra-experienced' Ford store service rep his tech's had been incapable to recognize the source of the rattle recommended I change an internal tie pole end.
After reading through the thread discussion here, I checked the clips found they had been in place. But rather than move forward with the internal tie fishing rod end substitute, I set up a new collection of clips (using the brake pedal hardware kit from Napa, Component Quantity: UP 83014A - price about $11). That do the trick. No more rattle. The previous clips got evidently dropped sufficient spring strength. I also removed the rubber inserts from the initial clips and put them in the new clips w/no fitment complications.
Thanks a lot to all who got the time to explain the cut problem - you ended up saving me period, money (about $400 cost savings) aggravation. A even though after I did the clip swap the noise came back and I made the decision to modify the top brakes to a brand-new set to observe if that was the issue. As I supposed, the car dealership that changed the brakes before I bought the vehicle put the topper in the incorrect way. They experienced the two inside pads on the passenger aspect and the two outdoors topper on the drivers part (probably vise versa I cant remember). I think this was my preliminary issue. The inside parts are a various size than the outdoors safeguards, which designed the car owner side brake pedal caliper had too very much have fun with which directed to a weakening of the cIips and the sound.
It does makes a distinction how the patches are put in regarding the sleeping pad size. Therefore it's long been about two decades right now since the shift and I can simply create out the noise once again. I think that JoeAsheville is usually right about the temperature process on the brakes. They obtain extremely sizzling after generating around. I just replaced my rear patches and rotors and I obtain a noise irrespective if we'm striking bumps or not.it't not a really loud noise, but a noise nevertheless.it'h almost like the safeguards are massaging against the rotor.hard to explain the audio. I'meters sorta stumped át what might become causing this.rotors are slotted and mix drilled. It't only obvious at higher rates of speed.
The brakes themselves wear't squeal when I use them and quit great. I just re-used what has been on the authentic parts when I place the brand-new pads back in.could this become the problem?
Hey everybody. I mainly lurk right here, but this is great forum, and provides been extremely useful to me over the previous few of yrs. I lately do a front side brake job on my '94 XLT 4x4. I right now have observed a minor precious metal 'ping/clang' noise and i am fairly certain it't because I do not put AR clips on the inside of safeguards. The sound disappears whenever I contact the brake pedal pedal.
Greatest way to describe this noise is usually it's as if you were tapping on the disc with a sludge hammer. I've researched search engines, this forum, and Glacier's Great guide on 1st gen brakes, but have got not seen any photo that shows this clip and/or whére/how it's i9000 installed on the inner sleeping pad, at minimum particular to the 1stestosterone levels gen Explorer's i9000 mattress pad. I Do buy from AutoZone a brand-new caliper hardware package that had the 4 steel/rubber retainer pins. There had been furthermore 2 small clip-looking items in the hardware bag, but the guys at AZ believed they had been 'squeal' clips that scrape the disc when the patches wear slim, giving clear caution that the patches are credited to end up being replaced. I've by no means used that type of 'squeal' cut on any brake pedal job before, so thinking they were various, I simply tossed them, along with the previous pins. Now, I'michael thinking they had been in truth the AR cIips, and should have been installed. And this is certainly what can be now causing this sound.
At the danger of redundancy.will anyone have a picture of these cIips, and where théy are to become set up? I assume the inner pad will NOT drop out there, as it's retained by the groovés in the caIiper group and the piston. But it's i9000 annoying, especially sticking with an usually good, brand-new brake work. Thanks in progress.I, simply this 7 days, installed fresh front safeguards again on my 91 Times and do not get those clips.l haven't noticed any rattling from them but will end up being certain to pay attention for it.
QUOTE Tbars, through all the brake jobs I've actually performed, I've never obtained any clips either. It'h becaue these clips are great for so long, that usually you can just re-use thé clips. I had to particularly ask for them when I needed mine a several years ago. My last brake work even though, I used Performance Rubbing Carbon Steel parts, and I was not capable to use the rattle clips, it was to very much to try and stuff them in, so I still left mine off. The your pedal pulses even more like Ab muscles stopping in, but l've Iightened my meals actions and it's long been fine.
